Purchasing Event Insurance helps protect your big day and gives you peace of mind. Whether you're renting equipment, hosting at a venue, or simply want to safeguard against the unexpected, here’s everything you need to know before you buy.
What Is Event Insurance?
Event Insurance protects you and your event in case something goes wrong, like accidental damage to the venue or rented items, or if a guest gets injured. Our coverage includes:
Event Host Liability: Covers bodily injury, property damage, and more at your event.
Inland Marine (IM): Covers accidental damage or loss to rented equipment.
You can purchase coverage during checkout — just select the insurance option at the “Pay” step in the Client View.
What’s Included in the Policy?
Here’s a quick breakdown of what’s covered:
Event Host Liability
Venue-required coverage for bodily injury, medical payments, and property damage
Coverage limits: $1 million per occurrence / $2 million aggregate
Includes defense costs, Service of Suit clause, Waiver of Subrogation, and Primary & Non-Contributory status
Inland Marine
Covers rented gear (accidental damage, loss, or theft)
Valued at replacement cost
$250 deductible per claim
Applies only to gear rented through this project
Do I Have to Buy Insurance?
Check to see if your venue or vendor requires it. But it’s a good idea to protect yourself and your rented items, especially if:
You’re hosting at a third-party venue
You’re renting expensive gear
When Am I Covered?
You're covered from the moment your event starts until it ends. Equipment rented for your event is protected during its scheduled rental period, too.
Inland Marine coverage also includes a logistics window of up to 4 days.
This means that if your event itself lasts 2–3 days but your setup, transport, or teardown logistics span up to 4 total days, your rented equipment remains covered throughout that full logistics period.
For example, if you have a 2-day wedding but your rental gear needs to be delivered, set up, used, and picked up across 4 days from start to finish, your Inland Marine coverage still applies for that entire timeframe.
How Do I Get Proof of Insurance?
As soon as you purchase coverage, your Certificate of Insurance (COI) will be emailed to you and available for download. You can share this with your venue or anyone requesting proof of coverage.
Who Handles My Policy?
The insurance is powered by ViCoverage (a partner of Vertical Insure). They handle policy documentation, coverage verification, and claims. You can contact them directly for any questions about your policy or coverage.
