We understand how frustrating it can be to have your Event Insurance application denied—especially when you're trying to protect yourself and your event. This article explains why this might happen and what you can do next.
Common Reasons for Denial
Event Insurance coverage is provided by our trusted partner, ViCoverage, underwritten by Tokio Marine. While most applications are approved instantly, coverage may be denied in certain situations:
1. Unsupported Event Type
Some events fall outside the scope of what's insurable through ViCoverage. This can include:
Raves or music festivals
Events with extreme sports or pyrotechnics
Political rallies or protests
Tip: If your event involves high-risk activities, you may need to find a specialized insurer.
2. Venue Not Accepted
Certain venues are not eligible due to risk factors or prior claims. This might include:
Parks or public property without proper permits
Venues with a history of safety violations
International locations (outside the U.S.)
3. Missing or Incomplete Information
Coverage can't be approved without accurate details. Common issues include:
Typos in the event address or date
Missing event type or attendee count
Name mismatch with the venue contract
Heads up: Make sure your event information matches exactly what's on your venue rental agreement.
4. Timing Issues
Insurance must be purchased before your event begins. If you try to purchase coverage:
After the event has started
On the same day as the event, too close to the start time
…it may be automatically denied due to timing restrictions.
What You Can Do Next
If you were denied coverage:
Double-check your event details for typos or missing info.
Try again with updated or corrected information.
Reach out to ViCoverage Support for help determining your eligibility.

Important Note
Your vendor is only covered if you successfully purchase Event Insurance. If your policy was denied or not purchased, neither you nor your vendor will be protected under the Event Host Liability or Inland Marine coverage.
